Hello Mark,
A fundamental problem in blood pressure measurement has always been that there is no "gold standard" of measurement. In quality engineering, this is known as metrology. In all the years I've been a physician I have never seen or experienced any effort to calibrate blood pressure measurement devices by any external standard. I think this makes the entire endeavor highly suspect if not frankly humorous, especially when people opine about relatively small differences in diastolic pressure putting people in different risk categories. It probably needs a real engineer (hint) to get after this one and solve it for all of us.

It is very important to stay on top of your health and have a check up at least once a year to ensure that you remain healthy. Many health problems are curable but you need to catch them in time.
